Effects of Today's earthquake in Northern Osaka on the Konica Minolta Group
Tokyo (June 18, 2018) – The following is a summary report issued by Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) regarding its status after today’s major earthquake and effects thereof.
Konica Minolta extends sincere sympathy to the people who have been affected by the earthquake that struck Osaka and the surrounding areas this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people and communities in the regions in the hope of swift recovery.
The status of damages by and effects of the earthquake to the Konica Minolta Group, as assessed at this time, are as follows:
1. Safety of Employees
While Konica Minolta Takatsuki Site, a research and development facility in northern Osaka Prefecture, suffered some damages in the building, all employees of Takatsuki Site have been accounted for. Furthermore, 97% of the company’s employees located in the neighboring prefectures (Kansai area) have also been accounted for. The company keeps confirming the safety of the identified 55 employees.
2. Status of Sites in Kansai Area
Damages at Takatsuki Site included some fallen ceiling panels. Takatsuki Site will be returning to business tomorrow, June 19, after the safety of the building is confirmed. Other sites in Kansai area had only minor damages.
Currently the company’s manufacturing activities are not adversely affected by the earthquake.
3. Impact on Corporate Performance
At this time, Konica Minolta estimates no major impact on the Group’s performance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. In the future, if any material impact on the Group’s mid- or long-term performance is found or estimated, it will be disclosed promptly.
