Konica Minolta Group Achieves Goal of Sourcing 100% Renewable Electricity at All of Its Own Global Production Sites for MFPs and Digital Printing Systems, Excluding Toner Production Sites
Konica Minolta Mechatronics in Japan Fully Transitions to Renewable Electricity

November 8, 2024

Tokyo (November 8, 2024) - Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) announced that Konica Minolta Mechatronics Co., Ltd. (Konica Minolta Mechatronics), which is a production site for digital printing systems in Japan, has attained the goal of procuring 100% of the electricity it uses from renewable sources. Consequently, all of the Konica Minolta Group’s own global production sites that manufacture MFPs and digital printing systems (excluding those of toner) have achieved the goal of procuring 100% of the electricity they use from renewable sources.

Konica Minolta Mechatronics manufactures digital printing systems, which are the main products of Konica Minolta. It continues to create opportunities for transforming production by realizing “production DX,” which combines on-site capabilities, which are based on production technologies and skills refined in the production and assembly of imaging, optics, and precision parts, with digital solutions, including automation of production lines.

Konica Minolta Mechatronics installed*1 a solar power generation system at its head office in 2021, which provides about 13%*2 of the electricity required by the head office plant. The Company attained the goal of procuring 100%*3 of the electricity it uses from renewable sources by purchasing and applying non-fossil certificates with tracking at its four sites in total, including the head office plant, in FY2024.

Konica Minolta’s Efforts to Achieve “Net Zero”

Regarding the material issue of “Addressing Climate Change,” Konica Minolta has been working to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the life cycle and has steadily produced results. In 2009, Konica Minolta formulated “Eco Vision 2050,” a long-term environmental vision. In May 2023, it launched a new vision to achieve “net zero” CO2 emissions from the product life cycle by 2050, a goal revised upward from the reduction of 80%. Konica Minolta is also a member of RE100, a global leadership initiative that brings together businesses committed to sourcing 100% renewable energy for their operations. The Company will enhance its reduction capabilities to achieve net zero emissions by sourcing 100% renewable energy for its operations by 2050. In recognition of such efforts, Konica Minolta’s net-zero targets were validated by the SBT initiative, an organization to help attain the target of the Paris Agreement, in July 2024.
