Konica Minolta Acquires All Covered Inc. to Enhance Solution Business
Tokyo (January 7, 2011) –Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc. (Konica Minolta) announced that the company has acquired All Covered, Inc. (AC), a managed information technology (IT) services company headquartered in Redwood City, California, through Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (KMBUS), a U.S. operating subsidiary based in Ramsey, New Jersey, of Konica Minolta.
<Background and aim of acquisition>
Konica Minolta has been providing customers, by building on its core technologies in color output, with a wide range of multi-functional peripherals (MFPs*) and color laser printers for office use and digital printing systems for the production printing field. Additionally, as the MFP products provide advanced capabilities to integrate into customers' workflow environments, Konica Minolta has been expanding its business domain, providing solutions and services to help customers improve their efficiency. As a result of this trend, the company has strengthened efforts including Optimized Print Services to help customers develop a strategy to reduce overall cost and maximize the productivity of office work through management of output and document imaging environments. These efforts has further expanded into industry-specific customized services, as Konica Minolta continues to enhance its businesses with a broader scope of services that integrate with the IT field and upgrade its level as a stronger provider of attractive values to the customers.
AC, with its main businesses in IT consulting, design, implementation and maintenance, has a significant competitive edge in providing locally customized IT services for small to medium-sized businesses with broad service coverage through its local offices in 21 cities across the United States.
Through this acquisition, Konica Minolta primarily aims to strengthen the position of KMBUS in North America by utilizing AC's talented team and advanced know-how in IT services, expanding and delivering the variety of office output equipment and the menu of related IT services to deliver to the customer sets of KMBUS and AC.
